Non-Resident Landlord Scheme (NRLS)
If you live outside the UK for more than 6 months per year, the Non-Resident Landlord Scheme applies to your rental income. Under NRLS, your managing agent is required to deduct basic rate income tax (currently 20%) from your rent and pay it directly to HMRC on a quarterly basis.
However, you can apply to HMRC for approval to receive your rent gross (without tax deducted) if you're up to date with your UK tax obligations. We help our international landlord clients with:
